Baby Knitting Patterns

Why I Think Baby Knitting Patterns are the Best

When you have set your needles down for awhile and you decide to pick them up again, you have some decisions to make. What will I knit? How much yarn will I need? How much will it cost me? When will I be able to finish it?

Well in my opinion the easiest and best thing to start with is your old baby knitting patterns. Yeah, that will be easy, right?

Well, yes it will be. Why? Because the projects are so small and easy to handle and you get that immediate gratification of having the project finished in such a short time. Once you have completed one your enthusiasm and self esteem is on the rise and you can’t wait for the second project. Or if you are like me, you will have several projects going all at the same time. Sometimes it is very difficult to figure out what thing I want to pick up first. I love them all.

I prefer to knit with straight single point needles. I don’t know I just like them. I also like working with the double point needles. 4 or 5 work just as well. But I just have never really mastered circular needles. I don’t even know why. I can do it, just not comfortable with it.

Anyway, baby knitting patterns are usually easier to do than adult. Unless you have some straight stitch no imagination type adult pattern and then who wants that. I love cabling the little tops and hats. It is just so neat to work with the smaller dimensions.

Also you don’t have the big worry of getting enough yarn with the same dye lot so you can complete the project and not worry about running out and then you look like you have a stripe where it doesn’t belong.

Don’t get me wrong you do have to get enough of the same dye lot, but let’s face it, buying an extra skein is not going to break the bank when you are working with so little to begin with.

It just works for me, small cute projects, not so much yarn that you have to buy and quick gratification with ego intact. YES!

And one added bonus. If you only have to buy a less amount you can afford to try those really cool yarns that are so much more expensive. It just works all the way around. I love it.

So I hope I have convinced you that baby knitting patterns are the way to go, for enjoyable and addicting entertainment. Enjoy!!

Very nice Susan. I love knitting too, but the big projects end up unfinished. I think I will try some small things. Thanks Deb.

That's a great idea to start out small and ease your way into knitting again...now if I can just find my needles!

Hi nightbear,

I don't do knitting my self but I am surrounded by people who do, my mum knits a lot of dolls and dolls clothes for similar reasons so I was just thinking that if people didn't want to do baby clothes because there are no baby’s in their life then perhaps dolls would be the next best thing.

Thanks, Gareth.

Thank you for the advice. I actually knitted my own hat to wear when I am snowboarding. It was tough going at first :-)

I learned the basics of knitting in my teens. I've long since forgotten everything I learned of course. But, I do think this would be a great thing to do during my "down time" and it certainly would be fun to create things for babies and loved ones.
